Our 40 acre outdoor range, is located at the base of the Great Bear Recreation area, features both a 10 yard to 80 yard sight in range and walk thru shooting course.
Also, a FITA field set-up, for up to 70 M shoot. Summer JOAD classes will be held at this field (located next to the lower parking area).
The walk thru shooting course consist of 28 stations, featuring both Target and 3-D / Field Staked Range.
The course extends through the rolling oak covered hillside and features a variety of shot angles and difficulties for all abilities.
The range is open to members 7 days a week (gate code needed) during daylight hours from April 1 to October 31 (weather permitting). During winter the range is closed.
Public (non-member) shooting at the Outdoor range is available on Wednesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a nominal $5 per person fee. A Minnehaha Archers board member is available during that time to answer questions and assist shooters.
Also public shooting on Saturday and Sunday from 9am for a daily nominal $10 per person fee which is payable at the pay post at the range (honor system).
The archery range property is leased from the city of Sioux Falls, but is maintained by Minnehaha Archers Inc. and all targets and objects are owned by the club. The range fee helps to maintain the range and targets.
Fees are paid by the honor system on the weekends. Non paying shooters may be asked to leave and/or subject to damages of private property.
OUTDOOR RANGE LAYOUT
Our outdoor range course comprise 28 stations with target bales, with the first 14 stations including 3D animals.
All station have been mark and staked to meet NFAA standards for hunter, animal and field shooting distances.
80 yard sight-in Flat Field, with double bales targets.
