OUTDOOR RANGE

***ATTENTION***  The Outdoor Range is now Open for the season  The 2025 gate code will always be posted on the bulletin board near the door at the indoor range for you to retrieve with an active membership card.


Our 40 acre outdoor range, is located at the base of the Great Bear Recreation area, features both a 10 yard to 80 yard sight in range and a walk through shooting course.

 

A FITA field is set-up, for up to 70 M shoot, in the field near the lower parking lot. Summer JOAD classes will be held at this field.

 

The walk through shooting course consist of 28 stations, featuring both Target and  3-D / Field Staked Range. The first 14 stations will have 3D animals along with field targets. The walk through course extends through the rolling oak covered hillsides and features a variety of shot angles and shot difficulties. 


The outdoor range is open to members 7 days a week (gate code needed) during daylight hours from April 1 to October 31 (weather permitting). During the winter, the range is closed and is utilized as a cross country ski park.


Public (non-member) shooting at the Outdoor range is available Friday at 6 pm to Sunday for a nominal $10 per person fee. If you are a non-member, please pay your $10 daily range fee at the pay post near the 10-80 yard sight in range. This is an honor system, and we trust all shooters will respect our club and help fund range improvements. 


The archery range property is leased from the city of Sioux Falls, but is maintained by Minnehaha Archers Inc. All targets, equipment, and structures are owned by the club. The range is funded with club memberships, grants, and range fees. All range maintenance, other than mowing, is done by volunteering club members.  


Non-paying shooters may be asked to leave and/or will be subject to damages of any private property.

Broadheads are NOT allowed on any areas of the outdoor or indoor ranges. Broadheads destroy 3D target/bales, please do not use them at the ranges.

OUTDOOR RANGE LAYOUT

Our outdoor range has 28 total walk through stations and a sight in range. 

The first 14 stations have target bales and 3D animals, and the second 14 stations have only target bales. 

All station have been mark and staked to meet NFAA standards for hunter, animal and field shooting distances.

We also have a 10 to 80 yard sight-in range, with double bale target stations.
